Introduction to Temple Law School
Temple Law School is arguably the preeminent law school in Philadelphia and throughout Pennsylvania. Obviously, Penn Law is more prestigious. And other law schools in the state are also very good. But, in terms of the number of lawyers the school places into practice in the region, and in terms of recent bar passage rates, Temple really stands out.

Also, Temple Law School is consistently rated as one of the two or three best schools in the nation for trial advocacy (what lawyers do during trials and the litigation process), legal research and writing (what every lawyer does every day), and international law (what everyone's talking about lately, as the world shrinks). Not many schools are in the top third of the U.S. News overall rankings and near the top of three specialty categories. Temple Law School is.
So, if you want to learn, live and practice in a city that's big (#5 in the nation) and improving, but not so huge that it's overwhelming, Philadelphia is an excellent choice. Plus, it's midway between D.C. and N.Y.C., which are easily accessible by train. Philadelphia has hundreds of distinct neighborhoods, so you can find a home in an upscale, urban skyscraper, or a quiet, quaint, small town on the outskirts. And, you can get just about anywhere via regional rail or subway.
Perhaps most importantly, the legal jobs market is great, without too many other students from neighboring schools competing. The other schools nearby are very good, but the area's not overrun by law graduates, like some other major cities (N.Y.C., Chicago, L.A.).
As a public university law school, the tuition is one of the best values in the nation, whether in-state or out-of-state, especially when you factor in the good job prospects for Temple Law grads. The law school has three buildings on the large and enjoyable main campus of Temple University, which is incredibly comfortable and safe and has all the ammenities you expect on a university campus (unlike many other urban law schools). And, you can see the historic Philadelphia City Hall from the front steps of the law school.
